The Leventritt Bench

Analysis:

The Leventritt Bench is a brown bench that is extremely tall, located in the Leventritt Shrub & Vine Garden at the Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. It is surrounded by New England fieldstone, making it look pretty. It stands on the floor of a small shelter, adjacent to the garden. This makes you able to stare at the beautiful plants and rest on the bench at the same time. In the Leventritt Garden, there are many different breeds of beautiful and divine plants.

My first conclusion was that the bench was separated from the fieldstone around it. But my family convinced me that, since the stone supports the bench, the two are one thing. Quote from my Dad: “Without the stone, what would the bench be?”

I wrote 4 for comfort because the shade closes the bench in, which makes it feel cozy. My mom and my sister thought the seat was too shallow, though. I had beauty as 4. It is beautiful because of the red-brown color of the wood beside the gray stone. I rated it 5 for uniqueness; it is extremely tall, and the seat is extremely low. Also, the stone in the bench is so unique since it fuses with the dark brown color of the wood next to it. I ranked habitat 5. The plants are so elegant along the rocky paths. It is also so awesome how the trees surround the garden almost completely.

The takeaway: The Leventritt Bench is a unique bench that is in the shade of a shelter in the lovely Leventritt Garden.

The Riverside Bench

Analysis:

The Riverside Bench is a green bench located in West Medford, Massachusetts. My family and I always go for walks on Tuesday nights after dinner. On one of our Tuesday walks, we found this bench, and I decided to put it on my blog. It was one of many benches along the river, but I liked this one because it is the closest to the water. Maybe if you sit there, you can relax while watching ducks and swans swim and glide through the water.

The bench was the most roughed-up of all the benches. This is surprising, because it is the most comfortable. It has a concrete slab under it that stops dirt or mud from getting up onto your feet. The bench also has scattered trees all around it, which match how dilapidated the bench itself is. That is why I rated it a five. (I looked up “dilapidated” in the thesaurus.)

I wrote five for comfort because, for some reason, the bench is always warm. Its back makes you feel so relaxed, and it feels like it could cheer anyone up. For beauty, I put two because it looks like a regular bench; that makes me want to rate it one. But I rated it one peg more because of the swirls at the end. For uniqueness, I had it as one because there are so many green benches in the world with swirls at the end and concrete slabs holding them up.

The Takeaway: The Riverside Bench is a comfortable bench on the banks of the Mystic River where you can sit and watch ducks and swans swimming through the water.

The Doubles Graffiti

Analysis:

The Doubles Graffiti is a double bench that is located in Inman Square, Cambridge. It has nonsense messages written in yellow and white letters, including “poop in the soup,” which I put in the Close-up picture above. In the habitat section in scoring, we gave it 5 benches. It looks like it has a bad habitat, but right next to it, it has a sandwich store and an ice cream store. That allows you to get food from either of those 2 stores and sit opposite of each other, eating.

It includes a restaurant close by it, named Highland Fried. Whenever I go there with my family, I usually get fries with fried chicken. You can also order from there and eat it at the The Doubles Graffiti as well. The comfort is 4 in scoring because, on the left bench, it is very warm. That causes it to be very comfortable. For beauty, I wrote 2 because the 2 benches look like regular metal city benches. That makes it look very normal. For uniqueness, I put 4 because of the idea for it to be a double bench in front of an ice cream shop.

The Takeaway: The Doubles Graffiti is a comfortable bench in Cambridge that is good for eating with friends and family.
